Performance
During the opening of the group exhibition of Asian women artists THE 3RD TWO—From Postwar-Feminism to Post-Feminism in East Asia— in Munich, the artist performed a piece in which she continuously drew lines on her own body for three hours.
On the one hand, these lines symbolise the wounds caused by the gaze when her body is viewed as an “exotic” object. On the other hand, they signify an attempt to resist that objectification. Through drawing, she reclaims control of her body and asserts her subject.
