Exhibition at Berlin Alexanderplatz Subway Station
Fotografiert von einem Menschen ohne Wohnung
(Shot by a person without a home)
2018
Public art

Photographs of daily life taken by a homeless woman participating in the project
For this participatory art project, the artist invited a homeless woman to photograph her daily life. Three of her pictures were displayed as large posters at the Alexanderplatz subway station in Berlin, and the rest were published online alongside an interview with her.
She has been homeless since 2008, when her daughter passed away from cancer. Since then, she has struggled to find her place in “normal” society. She now makes a living by collecting empty bottles and redeeming their deposits, as well as posting flyers. She is also an activist and is often seen holding a cardboard sign that reads, “Wohnen ist ein Menschenrecht” (Housing is a Human Right).
This project was realized within the framework of the competition Kunst im Untergrund 2018: Plakat politisch machen, organized by the Neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK) in Berlin.
