In this work, a Chinese-Canadian individual educated in Canadian rather than in Asian history reads aloud two influential narratives, each from a different perspective, related to the culture of remembrance surrounding World War II in East Asia.
The first book: The Rape of Nanking by Iris Chang
The second book: The Complete Story of Sadako Sasaki by Sasaki Masahiro
This piece was developed as part of the exhibition project They Are Lying, which focuses on the political conflicts that arise from differing historical perceptions among East Asian countries.
